The Art Director asked me to paint a cover that was theatrical and stylized. The illustrations of Leyendecker immediately came to mind. I then hired a young blonde teenager and a model with a similar body build as the 48 yea old Flynn. At the photo shoot they embraced as you see in the painting. I then used a photo of Errol Flynn's profile to paint his likeness in place of the model's face.
