"Roll Of Thunder"-The books by Mildred Taylor are beautifully written, concerning humanity, dignity and the racism endured when denying black people of their rights.  This, she does through personal stories about her family over the years.  The children portrayed here are her aunt and uncles as children living in segregated Mississippi during the 1930's.  In this dramatic scene I tried to illustrate the courage and vulnerability of these heroic children. I am honored that Ms Taylor requested that I paint the covers for these books.
